It's
BACK and I am very excited. WHY? Because I get to see Hok & Dom
dance again on television!!!! Who are Hok and Dom you ask? Well,
right now they are two members of ABDC S3's Quest Crew, but in their
former fame, they were competitors on So You Think You Can Dance
(SYTYCD) Season 3. I have loved Hok since he was cut on SYTYCD S2
Auditions when he didn't have a valid work visa (He's Japanese, but
from the UK and has a very cute English accent). He made it on SYTYCD
S3 as did Dom. They struck an instant friendship as that season's hip
hoppers, but it was their talent and personalities that made them
standouts. Neither won, but they made an indelible impression on me
and I am so happy they are finding new success in their original styles
on America's Best Dance Crew Season 3!
Speaking
of SYTYCD...did you see all the past SYTYCD dancers on Season 3 of ABDC?
Besides Hok and Dom, there is also Ryan in Quest from Season 1 of
SYTYCD and Victor from Season 4 auditions for SYTYCD. He was the funny
guy who went to sit in the audience during his routine. He was cut
when he couldn't do choreography, but now he's showing us everything
he's great at. There's also that clogger guy on the Dynamic Edition
group from Alabama. He tried out Season 4 of SYTYCD too, but also
didn't make it because he couldn't do other styles beyond his "Hip Hop"
clogging.
OK,
so there are some talented groups on this season's show and I may be
initially rooting for Quest, but others could surprise me. I still
don't think anyone is as good as Season 1's winners, Jabbawockeez, but
I'll keep an open mind.
BUT,
as always, there is a girl group that I wish wasn't on the show. Not
Beat Freaks, because they were genuinely awesome. I mean Fly Khicks
from the Miami Heat. I'm not saying all of the girls were bad because
the black girl in the middle with pinkish hair was good as was the girl
who does the flexible bendy tricks in the green shirt. But, that badly
executed double pirouette into the develope leg grab. She didn't even
point her toes!!!! I hate when girls resort to only sex appeal and
expect to make it through because they think guys will like it, but
guess what...mostly teenage girls vote, so sexy doesn't work. It
hasn't worked once on the show, and I'm hoping it doesn't again this
season. It also didn't work for Susie on Season 4 of SYTYCD, also a
former Miami Heat dancer.
