I don't normally post comedy sketch videos on my blog, but today I am making an exception. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon did a Twilight vs. Harry Potter sketch last night where Jimmy played both Rob Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe. The result = hilarious (or Hilaricus if you're my BFF).
With all the talk about "Is Twilight the next Harry Potter?", "Is Stephenie Meyer the next JK Rowling?", "Are the Twilight kids hotter than the HP kids?", etc., this weekend is a big deal for franchise owners. They are all watching the numbers for fear that Twilight somehow would usurp the throne from Happy Potter. I don't know why they can't just assume that people who like one franchise would ALSO like the other. This isn't Trekkies vs. Star Wars were talking about. Young girls love hot guys and for the tweens, both franchises have plenty of those. Ultimately, I am a Twihard, but only a HP-movie lover. I haven't read the books yet (*hangs head in shame as I think to the dusty bookshelf where all the books sit*). I keep saying I will, but since I love the movies so much I keep feeling like I should wait until the last movie has been released, then read the books. I don't want to start being disappointed by the movies like I was with the first Twilight movie.
In real life, I bet Rob & Daniel could be friends. They both could empathize with being confused with their characters in very popular franchises and both have throngs of young ladies screaming their names wherever they go.
That was so funny! These battles crack me up, like, Prince vs. MJ, why do people think they have to pick a team. Can't we love both? But I don't love Prince so maybe I can't, ha ha!
No, but dang it I wish I was on the Twilight train with you! I'm not blown away by the HP book so far, so maybe I'll just start watching the movies.
So you were disappointed with the Twilight movie? What was it? The set and characters were exactly as I pictured when I read it. But I just thought it could have been so much better. Maybe it was the directing? or a low budget? I don't know. But Edward is hot! That's all that matters. Too bad Ralph Macchio is too old to play Jacob!
My sister told me that the first third of the first HP book was the worst of the whole series because of all the parts with his muggle family, but get's so much better afterwards.
I may start reading them after this last movie. It was that good. I think I like Movie 1, 3, 4, & 6 with 2 & 5 being my least fav so far.
Why didn't I like Twilight...this could be it's own blog entry, but I might get stoned by the Twihards LOL
1>Script - Cheese fest...some things in the book just didn't translate well as spoken words
2>Kristen Stewart's acting - esp the part in the hospital where she's just stuttering nonsense. She also seems just miserable and sullen the whole time. Bella is conflicted and serious, but her love makes her warm. I didn't feel that with Kristen's deadpan performance
3>Director - Catherine Hardwicke's 13 was an amazing movie, but it was a drama and not a fantasty action movie. Not the right choice.
4>That was not a meadow or meadow scene grrrrr (the best part of the book and it was all jacked in the movie)
5>The outside of the Cullen's house looks nothing like what I had in my mind when I read the books (inside yes, outside, no)
I think that's really it, but that's like the whole movie because it's the script, direction, and the main character. Ha.
Why I liked Twilight the movie:
1>I loved reading it from Bella's perspective so I could make me the starring character and fall in love with Edward. So any scene that is with Edward made me want to erase Kristen and put me in instead. =)
2>Edward - he is soooooooo dreamy in the movie (and looks even dreamier for the second one)
3>Carlisle - He is also sooooo great in the movie. Love him 2nd after Edward
4>The scenery...the shots of Washington were gorgeous
