OK, here's how my ELIMINATION recap/reviews work:
- I always DVR the show so I can start/stop as many times as necessary
- I list who I predicted would be in the bottom 3.
- I watch the show and confirm if I was right or wrong.
- I
critique each "Dance For Your Life" Solo & decide who I think
should be sent home (may be different than my original pick from
Performance episode).
- I watch and recap the Judges' responses and document who the judges choose to eliminate and confirm if I was right or wrong.
Jonathan & Karla
Vitolio & Asuka
Jason & Caitlin
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Again, I am writing this after I actually watched the episode. My excuse this week is the fact that Michael Jackson, my childhood hero, died last Thursday, same day as the show. I chose to blog about Michael instead, and then felt too depressed to blog about the elimination show. I was so afraid that Jason would get sent home on the day his idol died.
This review will be very quick just because I want to have it on record before I watch/blog about Top 14's show. I am not watching the show right now so this is from memory.
Top 20 Routine - Hip Hop / Nappy Tabs & Dmitri Chaplan
-I liked the routine. It was hot, especially the Latin Ballroom and the water on the piano. I'm not sure I loved the "production" feel of the routine. I like when the routines feel more live performance.
Judges: Nigel, Mary, & Toni Basil
Actual Bottom 3:
Each week, So You Think You Can Dance will feature dance styles from around the world on the Results Show.
Special Guest: All Youth Boys Hip Hop Crew. I don't recall the name of their crew off the top of my head. They were cute, but pretty "white boy" hip hop.
SOLOS:
Guys Summary - I think Vitolio is not a very good dancer. His technique is so off and he forces his moves. Passion is good and all, but when the moves seem untrained, it loses validity for me. I thought Jonathan did great gymnastics, but that's about it. He chose a weird song too. I actually liked Jason's solo better than his previous one because it was less tricks and more dancing. He did look sad though.
Girls Summary - Asuka really relies on his sexiness when she does her solos. I didn't really feel anything from her performance, but that's probably because I don't buy her personality. I thought Karla did more dancing than before, but it looked a little sloppy. I loved Caitlin's solo because she really finishes her moves and makes everything so fluid and simple looking.
Special Performance - The Veronicas
Results -
Girls -
Asuka sent packing...WHAT?!?? They always hyped her and I was really shocked. I thought Karla would be sent home. Asuka looked surprised as well. They said she didn't grow enough. I didn't think Karla has grown much either, but I guess they're equally on the lower end of the scale. I have been saying I wanted Asuka to go, but was still surprised she went this early because I thought the producers wanted a ballroom girl to win. Guess that means they have picked Janette as their "horse".
Guys -
Jonathan sent packing...no surprise. Jason looked so relieved (so was I). Nigel said he thought Jason's solo looked desperate. I disagree. Nigel said the same for Karla's solo...for that one I agree.
New couple - Vitolio & Karla (I don't have much faith for that one).
Until next week...Keep on dancing!
