There are some musical seasons that just fall into place and become something great. Fall 2010 is one of those times for me. It started months ago when I found out Ra Ra Riot's new album was coming out and they announced a US Tour. They were coming to Atlanta on Nov 2nd. My friend @jhenry47 said she wanted to see them and they weren't coming down to Florida. I invited her up for the show.
Soon after, I found out Jonsi (lead singer of Sigur Ros doing his solo thang) was going to come to Atlanta on Oct 31st. That one made my year because I LOVE his solo album like WOAH and I was disappointed Atlanta wasn't on the first leg of the tour. I was able to talk JHenry into seeing Jonsi too.
Finally, Interpol rescheduled their tour and perfectly were scheduled for Nov 1st in Atlanta. I wanted to see them when they were touring this past summer. They were opening for U2 and I really didn't want to pay U2 prices to see them, but also thought I should see U2 one of these days. However, they had also planned some smaller venue side shows during U2's schedule and we were supposed to see them in July in Athens, but Bono hurt his back-had surgery-cancelled the whole tour-etcetcetc. I'd say Interpol is in my Top 5 favorite bands and have seen them 7x (8x now), but not since 2007. Sadly, my favorite quarter of Interpol, Carlos D, left the band. I was feeling a little strange about seeing them with a replacement. I had a real groupie relationship with Carlos (innocent groupie adoration from afar).
So the schedule was set and plans were made. In the end, we saw 7 bands, 8 sets, in 4 days.
1. Jenny and Johnny - Oct 30th / Criminal Records FREE In-store
2. Mountain Man - Oct 31st / Tabernacle (opener for Jonsi)
3. Jonsi - Oct 31st / Tabernacle
4. White Rabbits - Nov 1st / Tabernacle (opener for Interpol)
5. Interpol - Nov 1st / Tabernacle
6. Ra Ra Riot - Nov 2nd / Criminal Records FREE In-store
7. GIVERS - Nov 2nd / Masquerade HELL (opener for Ra Ra Riot)
8. Ra Ra Riot - Nov 2nd / Masquerade HELL
I'll be posting pictures, concert videos, trip fun recaps in the very near future, but I wanted to tell everyone where I've been hiding the past few days. I loved EVERY minute of this concert bender.
Here are my ideas for regular segments on the blog:
- Continue my regular entry updates for fanfics - rated, reading now, to-read, etc.
- Restart my concert reviews (starting with The English Beat/Fishbone show I saw on Friday)
- Start a new segment for reviewing the fanfics I have finished reading so people actually know WHY I rated them the way I did
- Start a new segment for highlighting a song a week whether it is for the song itself, its lyrics, or because it spoke to me that week
- Start a new segment reviewing new music I have bought
- Restart my SYTYCD blogging when Season 7 starts in May.
So, let's see if I can drag myself away from reading Twilight fanfic long enough to make these aspirations come true. =)
So in review, I will at least make a list of all the bands or performances I saw this past year with a rating from 1-10. They'll be listed in alphabetical order, not by date. Shows were either in Atlanta, GA or Miami, FL.
I will attempt to do an unscientific, not in the least very technical comparison of a TZ1 and TZ5.
Matisyahu
@ The Variety Playhouse
8-Nov-2008
Opening Band - Future Rock
I
know, I know...if I went to the concert in November 2008, why am I only
writing about it almost in February 2009? Well, one, it got close to
the holidays and I got busy, two, I went to Europe for 2-weeks and got
preoccupied trying to learn French, and finally three, I really didn't
enjoy myself that much at the Matisyahu concert.
Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re (TSMMR)

I'm going back in

the past month or so, so bear with me.
